Welcome to the
colourful world of Fi Wilkie
Surrounded by the native flora and fauna in Margaret River, Western Australia, Artist Fi Wilkie is drawn to observe the delicate change of seasons, the contrast of chaos and order in the bush landscape and the stories of connection that exists within it.
Fi works as a full-time artist and creates and teaches workshops in drawing, painting and collage.
Inspired by the rich biodiversity of the Margaret River region, Fi continues to work on several ongoing bodies of work. Browse them below.
Banksia Bushland
"The images from this series document the delicate change of season and the contrast of chaos and order within the bush landscape."
Plein Air Landscapes
"These landscapes take in some of my favourite locations around the South West. Lugging my easel and paints across rocks and sand, is pure bliss. Is it about painting or just exploring, battling nature and overcoming elements - to just be in the landscape."
Birds of a Feather
"Bird watching is addictive. So many birds - so many expressions, variations and stories to tell. I see a lot of us humans in their activities, the stories are the same in so many ways."
Still at Home
"In recent times, many of us found ourselves rediscovering the domestic landscape, baking, vegetable growing, thrift focusing and generally living more simply. This body of work came out of that time."
Triptychs
"Like taking a walk through a landscape, I just start on one canvas, then the next one is added in response to it. What started as a way of trying to imply the collection of things we find there - I sketch, draw, walk, and visit the site several times before I begin."
Wander Out Yonder
"After a bumpy trip to Karijini in 2022, a collage play session with painted paper glue and scissors led to the beginning of this series. Wander Out Yonder is all about the different landscapes around WA."
