Series : Still At Home

A loud trumpeting collection of the purple pea vine, Hardenbergia, the yellow Wattle and the Banksia leaves and nuts with their spent open mouths singing loud.

"The bush where we walk daily comes alive before the end of winter, its such a promise of life and colour after a cold dark winter. First the sea of yellow wattle, which quickly gives, all at once it seems to the dominance of the striking purple peas, (commonly known as Native Wisteria) and then the orchids and smaller wildflowers start to sing. Its a marching of the season at this time of the year, dynamic and alive, we all revel in the sense of rejuvenation and rebirth".

Indigenous name: Koorla ( Hardenbergia comptoniana ). The vine stems were commonly used as strong ropes to build shelters, the pea flowers used to create dye and for use in basket weaving and also for traditional medicines.
