Background and Why its great to join a Life drawing group:
Life Drawing is a quiet, contemplative kind of activity, great for building mindfulness and developing our observational skills. We learn that this practice has huge benefits for our skills in other areas or our creativity and our life. Slowing ourselves down and building our abilities to focus. We start with short poses and build up to longer poses over the session.
During these sessions we will learn about :
Different art materials - you will have access to a variety of materials over the three sessions.
Drawing techniques commonly used when illustrating the human form. How to draw what you see. Perspective, measurement, gesture, negative space.
Traditions around life drawing. How a life drawing session runs, process and developing your practice.
Understanding the structure of the human form.
Continuing Students will deepen their knowledge and benefit from support and the community as they develop their skills. Developing your skills will take time - so the first thing we need to do is lay some good solid foundations so that you can progress and develop your skills, problem solve for yourself when things go astray and learn to manage your approach.
Please note this is a class designed to give you the fundamental skills and information to attend life drawing group sessions where there is no teaching support*
* Our current life drawing group runs on Wednesday evenings.
